Communications Manager
 

Role and Responsibilities
 

As a communications manager on our team,  you will have the unique opportunity to:

 

  • Work directly with firm principal and director in development of the team.
     

  • In conjunction with the firm principal and director, effectively manage, support, and mentor other team members.
     

  • Lead projects and collaborate with colleagues to advance the communications strategy for multiple high-profile clients.
     

  • Support with day-to-day client management and ensure client communications in a timely manner.
     

  • Strategically advise, manage, and execute media campaigns.
     

  • Drive day-to-day execution with little guidance and lead project management of client deliverables.
     

  • Write and pitch media advisories, press releases, and personalized pitches to a wide variety of journalists and TV and radio bookers with minimal oversight.
     

  • Proactively identify opportunities for increasing client press visibility.
     

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with reporters/editors from local and national media outlets.
     

  • Deliver in-depth media prep and training for client interviews with major publications and outlets.


​Candidate Qualifications
 

A strong candidate will meet the following qualifications: 
 

  • 4-6 years of earned media and communications experience in a firm, or related position on a campaign, Capitol Hill, or with an organization or news agency.
     

  • Experience managing at least one direct report.
     

  • An effective and confident leader who is self-motivated.
     

  • Must thrive on delivering results, and have the ability to work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment while completing tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
     

  • Strong writing and grammar skills and can demonstrate ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
     

  • Comfortable thinking on their feet and providing real-time strategy and recommendations to internal staff and clients.
     

  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills – a natural listener and communicator.
     

  • Passion for communications, politics, and the 24-hour news cycle.

Salary negotiable based on experience, with a salary range of $80,000-$90,000.
